One of the ways the Philoptochos Society is able to raise money is to help our parish families sponsor coffee hours in honor of their loved ones. If a family is going to have a memorial service for a dearly departed person, the church office should be called to confirm the date with the priest. There are times when a memorial service cannot take place and the priest can give the appropriate alternative(s). In addition, the family may choose sponsor the coffee hour for that day. If the family wants to sponsor the coffee hour and would like the help of the ladies of the Philoptochos Society, then call Mrs. Georgia Georgakopoulos at 440 333-5394 or Mrs. Olga Vamvakas at 440 333-3598.
These ladies will explain to you what supplies-coffee, milk, plates, napkins, etc. you need to bring. They will also contact the Coffee Team that will be serving that day. We have taken the members of our Philoptochos and put them into teams. By setting up teams, the same ladies will not be serving and cleaning up all of the time. Below is a list of those teams and their members. Please, if you are called, do not say no. We need ladies to help setup starting at 9:30 a.m., items need to be put into platters, the coffee needs to be made, the food and coffee serving tables need to be setup, then there is the serving time and finally the clean-up time. If you do not see your name on a team, you can call the Board Members to ask to be put on a team. The first two names at the beginning of the team list are those of two current board members. A special thank you needs to go to Mrs. Helen Drapos. She is always at each coffee hour, early in the morning, helping each team and giving of herself.
